Success rules that all unsuccessful people follow

“The second thing is that he [Jeff Bezos] is not tethered by conventional thinking. What is amazing to me is that he is bound only by the laws of Physics. He can’t change those. Everything else he views as open to discussion.”

I spent the weekend binging…

… on books and videos.

Was watching this standup guy on YouTube talk about his experience serving in the military.

There was this one time his ID expired. So he went to the designated spot for making a new one. But the guy at the counter turned him away. Because he forgot to shave.

And told him to go next door to the on-base convenience store.

To get himself a razor.

Then to come back and shave in the washroom. Before they’d let him get his picture and ID done.

So he went to the store.

Got a razor.

And tried to pay for it at the counter.

They asked to look at his ID. And saw it was expired. So they wouldn’t let him buy the razor. Because it’s against regulations. But they told him that there was a Target store just outside the base.

And he could get a razor there.

Frustrated, he went out of the base. And into Target. Fortunately, they didn’t check for IDs there. And he got his razor.

But going back to base…

… the guy at the gate stopped him. Checked his ID. And told him that he couldn’t come back in.

Because his ID was expired!

And the poor guy went home… sobbing…

Lots of bureaucracy in the military?

Definitely.

But you know what’s worse than institutional bureaucracy?

Self-imposed bureaucracy.

Meaning:

You create imaginary ‘success rules’ for yourself (and your business) that have zero reason to exist.

Rules like…

… you have to have graphics on your ebook covers (which, if you’ve read my 2 Minute ‘Text-Only’ eCovers system, you know it ain’t true)…

… you have to ‘focus’ if you want to make the big bucks online (I’m switching back and forth between writing this email and reading a novel)…

… you have to jump on the A.I. bandwagon or you’ll get left behind (it’s not always a bad thing to get left behind so you can go somewhere else less crowded).

Anyways…

Life is tough enough already.

Without you making it even tougher on yourself.

Following any self-imposed ‘success laws’ that aren’t actually making you or your business more successful?

Flush them down the drain!

And if you know anyone that’s been having a hard time because of similar ‘bureaucracy’?

Feel free to lend them a helping hand.

Recently:

I heard that my friends Tracy and Susanne of Piggy Makes Bank PLR fame ran into some financial issues. Due to some institutional bureaucracy within the medical system, I think…

In other words…

They’re putting their quality PLR content on sale for 98% off to pay the medical bills.
