Last year:
During my self-imposed ‘solitary-confinement’ at home, which I spent honing my skills and tuning myself into the latest ‘trends’…
I had the pleasure of studying under a few of the world’s top YouTubers.
Kids who made millions a year.
And owned homes bigger than their parents had ever seen.
Specifically:
I wanted to master the art of creating viral shorts from them.
Why?
Because creating shorts is a WAY different skill set than creating longs.
The life and death of your video short depends entirely on how quickly you can grab attention (within the first 3 seconds). And how quickly you can keep attention (making almost everyone watch your entire video). That’s how the YouTube algo-rhythm decides whether to show you to the world, or kill you where you stand.
And:
These two skills of grabbing and keeping attention…
… just happen to also be…
… 2 of the most important skills every copywriter needs to have!
So:
I knew that if I could level up my viral video chops, my copywriting chops would level up too. Automatically. And thus, I spent weeks ‘dissecting’ viral short after viral short, trying to figure out what made them tick.
The result?
I discovered that there wasn’t anything really ‘new’.
A lot of the simple ‘tricks’ and ‘techniques’ they used were stuff that the top direct-response copywriters in history have been using for decades. To get people to sit up and listen. Until they pulled their wallets out.
But:
The caveat is that…
By breaking down the psychological ‘hacks’ behind why these shorts actually went viral, I found a LOT of copywriting techniques that history’s top copywriters have always been using… but… they’ve never really talked about in detail!
And what’s more?
Since these tricks weren’t in your standard ‘sales pages’…
And were being used in ‘conversational’, casual settings on a video…
It showed me in a lot more detail how easily you could use them in your casual content, and copy, to make all the stuff you say, speak, and write much more attention-grabbing, attention-keeping, and…
… a lot more…
… ADHD-proof!
Which I think is a must these days.
When I look at how bad people are at paying attention now, I wonder whether there’ll be any humans left if the world doesn’t start going on a ‘digital detox’.
Anyways:
I’ve squeezed almost everything I’ve learnt into a short new report I’m creating.
About how you can ‘ADHD-proof’ your copy.
Whether it’s sales copy.
Lead magnet copy.
Social media copy.
Or even video copy.
Using simple little word and phrasing ‘tricks’ that automatically catch and keep people’s attention. Stuff so simple, most people wouldn’t even know they were doing that to you.
At first though:
I was thinking about just showing how you could apply it to just your copy.
But then, I decided to include a little something that you can use to help ‘ADHD-proof’ almost any content you create too. Like plain ol’ articles and videos and stuff. Using the same psycho-logical principles. So you can start getting people to stop ignoring your stuff. Or maybe I should say… it makes your stuff super hard to ignore!
At any rate:
I’m still putting the finishing touches on it.
