Why I blind myself beholding my own greatness every morning

“Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac.”

~ Henry Kissinger, American diplomat and political scientist

===

This morning, I did what I do almost every morning:

Before I even look at myself in the mirror…

… I’m outta the bedroom…

… in front of the laptop, and…

… reading through a detailed list of all my strengths and weaknesses.

Why so narcissistic, you ask?

Well, it ain’t anything as serious as all that. But the main reason I do this every morning, on the dot, is because… there’s no success in life without deeply knowing, understanding, and using your strengths and weaknesses.

And knowing it all…

… is a lifelong journey.

Can’t ever get enough of it.

‘Cuz the more you learn about yourself, the more you earn for yourself. Plus, the easier and the more effortless life becomes, whether that be in health, wealth, love, or happiness.

Case in point:

* Some time back…

I was watching an interview with the founder of China’s biggest book club.

‘Twas started by this guy who loves books. And all he did was talk about the books he read every week, or every other week.

Which eventually snowballed into a book club so successful, that it was even franchised in dozens of other countries across Asia.

Making its founder millions in yearly recurring coin.

But:

When people kept asking him about how he built such a successful business, and commenting about how hard it must have been to build such a huge company…

… he replied saying…

“Huh? That’s interesting. Because I’ve never felt it was hard at all. Actually, it’s always been really easy.”

But so it goes when you build your biz around your strengths, instead of simply diving into every opportunity that falls flat in your inbox, no matter how mediocre you are at it.

When you’re using your true strengths, work is just like play, and play is just like work.

In other words:

Wanna make more money…

… without hardly any sweat or effort?

Then build your biz around your unique strengths!

It’s what makes you great.

* It reminds me of something the wifey is constantly telling me every few days or so.

At the end of the day, after a long day’s work…

… she’s simply gushing…

… and asking me about:

“Is this really ok? I feel really guilty. Because drawing and painting is so fun, I really don’t feel like I’m doing any work at all. But I’m getting paid to do this.”

Well, if there’s anything she should be feeling guilty about…

It’s that, whenever I hear her say that, it gets me feeling a little ‘under the weather’ if I’m not having enough fun with my work too.

* While I try my best to always work within my strengths…

… or as history’s greatest investor, Warren Buffett, calls it, working within your core competencies…

… I’m not always successful.

For example:

I have to write stuff every day. Or almost every day. Which is a devastating weakness of mine.

What’s that?

You think my writing’s pretty good?

Well now…

I often get letters from people telling me the same thing, but… while I might be somewhat good at it… that’s just compared to the average individual.

However:

If you compare that to all the other stuff I do…

Let’s not mention how much I hate it, and am constantly trying to make it more fun, but writing’s at the absolute bottom of my competency list!

Meaning:

Out of all the things I’m bad at, writing’s the absolute worst!

* On the other hand:

What am I the absolute best at?

That very, very, very few people in the entire world could possibly beat me at?

And that I’m constantly ranking among the top on the planet whenever I compete in this skill in online games played by millions?

Why, it’s…

… my ability to analyze things and…

… see patterns that no one else sees!

Hardly anyone you’ll ever meet is as good at it as me. And it’s a skill I use daily, just as much. Which brings me a lot of satisfaction. And fun.

* But:

It also reminds me of a saying by Sun Tzu in The Art of War.

Where he says:

Know your self, and know your enemy, and you’ll never fear losing a battle.

Which is an incomplete translation.

Because what he actually meant to say was that…

… if you know your strengths and weaknesses, and your enemy’s strengths and weaknesses, and leverage them accordingly, you’ll never have to lose again.

* You can use your natural strengths and talents against your enemy’s weaknesses…

… but…

… you can also use them to conquer your own weaknesses too!

* How do I use my personal strengths to overcome my writing weaknesses?

Simple.

By analyzing all the things that make great writing, great content, great copy… great! More specifically, finding the 20% of patterns that give writing 80% of its power… and then… using those tiny little differences that give the most bang for the least buck… so I can get more impact with less writing.

While getting letters from people telling me they enjoy my writing.

Anyways:

That’s enough of my philosophizing.

One of the most detailed analyses I’ve ever done (which I’ve never heard of anyone else doing) is on the most viral, profit-pulling content and copy on the web… dissecting the exact words they used to go viral and make boatloads of coin…

Words that I’ve collected, and released, in my 21 One-Minute Word Hacks.

Hacks so powerful…

… they can instantly make your content and copy as addictive as chips, chocolate, cookies, and coffee.

And also which:

I’m reopening to the public for the next few days.

But if you haven’t snatched yourself a copy of one of the best smelling works in my library, then here’s the war-free zone in which it resides:
