Tragically bad events that made me a badass-ly good email marketer

This might sound like I’m just crying my heart out…

But I’m not.

I’m just sharing yet another valuable lesson on making sweet, green moolah with email:

* A few days ago…

I reopened my collection of One-Minute Word Hacks. And started talking about it in my emails. But the problem? ‘Twas a bug in one of my site plugins that made the page go haywire, and some people couldn’t read the page.

So I fixed it.

But the day after that…

… confident that I’d fixed the bug…

… I sent out yet another email about those pile o’ sweet words that could make you gracious amounts of coin.

The result?

I sent out the wrong link to the wrong product!

Slaps my forehead…

But how did that make me a better email marketer?

I’m writing an email about it. An email that’s going to bring me in lots of views. And shares (maybe). And sales (definitely)!

More:

* A couple years back…

Our beloved doggy friend, Mango, passed away…

… tragically.

One day, she just up and disappeared.

And we couldn’t find her for days.

Until a few days later, we found her lying still, motionless, and stiff… having entered into her eternal sleep… peacefully and healthily… in the forest behind our little home. It left me in tears for weeks.

Tragic, but true.

Yet, how did it make me a better email marketer?

I wrote an email about it.

And… it inadvertently… brought in a lot of coin.

* Yet even more years back:

I once joined a little management competition. With hundreds of contestants from all fields, industries, and walks of life. Trying to win a couple of hundred bucks of prize money. Just for fun and giggles.

The result?

I won!

And placed my hard-earned green and lovely bills in my black and stylish faux leather wallet.

Shortly after:

I went to a little festival.

During which…

… while everyone was shouting, cheering, and singing their hearts out… I was pickpocketed, lost my wallet, and lost all the money I’d won just moments before!

How did it make me a better marketer?

And email copywriter?

Well, yeah…

… I wrote about it and… it made me sales and coin.

* Just as long ago:

I was once a victim of identity theft. Where some guy from “who knows where” steals your identity, pretends to be you, and tries to swipe everything you own… including your bank account!

And the worst part?

It happened while I was in the middle of traveling.

And had no idea what was going on.

Until all of a sudden, all my cards stopped working. After which… well… it was a nightmare to resolve let’s just say.

Scary but true.

Don’t be posting your personal details online.

You’ll come to regret it eventually.

But as for how it made me a better email marketer?

That’s right. You guessed it. I just wrote about it and it brought me in more moolah to compensate for all the pain and trouble!

Short story long:

In the words of world’s greatest email copywriter, Matt Furey, “Nothing bad ever happens to an email marketer. Because they can just write about it, and it’ll make them a ton of sales.”

But…

… other than the fact that it reaps you more coin…

… writing about the bad stuff is a great way to…

… undo all the ‘trauma’ in your head…

… if you ever have any.

Recently:

I was reading this psychological study conducted by some researchers in England. Where they studied people who had some migraine-inducing worries, problems, and difficulties on their minds… and… talked all about it all with someone they loved and trusted.

But the result?

Didn’t change a thing!

They still felt awful.

But then:

The researchers compared that to people who wrote all their worries, fears, anxieties, and traumas down. Whether that was by hand, or typing it all out in front of a laptop computer. And measured how they felt.

The result?

They fluttered around like a weight was lifted off their stiff ol’ shoulders.

But…

The main reason for this difference was because…

When you talk, you don’t really think. But when you write, you’ve gotta at least think a little bit. About what you’re gonna say. And how you’re gonna say it. Before ink touches paper. Or finger touches keyboard. And thus, it helps your brain get over it much more quickly.

Writing about the stinky stuff is just that therapeutic.

Even if you hate doin’ it.

But at any rate:

While writing might cure your heart’s cries, and relieve the trauma that’s been sitting heavy on your head, it won’t make you any coin or green paper, no matter how tragic the stuff you write about, if…

… people don’t actually read it!

And keep reading it.

Until they finally get to your sales page.

And beyond.

But scroll off to greener pastures within a second or two instead.

Which happens to the supremely forgettable stuff most people write about. Whether that be in their emails, articles, blog posts, or even on their YouTube channels.

What the difference between stuff that gets read and stuff that gets trashed?

Simple.

It’s the words.

You’ve gotta have words that get people chiming to the tune of your writing, and merrily scrolling their way into your shopping cart, or email list.

In other words, you’ve gotta have words that grab attention.

And keep attention.

And keep them hooked.

And coming back to open and read your emails, while craving and hankering for more. A lot more.

All of which…

… I’m going to talk more about in my next upcoming work about the King & Queen of Email Copywriting.

But before that?

It all starts with the basics. And how to tap into those kindergarten-level basic words that get the brain sitting straight up, and paying attention to you and your sales copy any time you want it to.

And doing it one… single… word… at… a… time.

The most important of which:

I’ve squished into my special collection of 21 One-Minute Word Hacks.

Where I reveal the ancient words used by the world’s top YouTubers and high-tech copywriters, that almost instantly make your content and copy as addictive as chocolate, chips, cookies, and coffee.

The collection of which I’ve reopened for a few short days right over here, if you wanna turn tragedy into monetary badassery too:
