A dirty marketer’s soil-shoveling romance

A kind email from a Dopamine on Demand subscriber dropped into my inbox a few days ago.

And he told me that…

… he enjoys reading my emails…

… and sales letters…

… because I do everything I talk about in my reports!

And I’m not sure if he wants me mouthing out his name. So I won’t. But it’s definitely true that I use every single thing I write about in my own work in my marketing. And writing. And copywriting.

And even in my communicating, when I’m talking to other people.

Because…

… it’d be silly of me not to!

Seeing how powerful everything I write about is….

And it’d be boring to talk about plain ol’ average stuff that just gets you average (or below average) results anyways. It’s no fun yapping on ’bout stuff like that. And getting my mouth all dry over nothin’.

Writing is hard enough as it is.

I’m not gonna make it any harder on myself.

But:

This reminds me of something the Godfather of Direct-Response Marketing & Harsh Reality, Dan Kennedy, once said. And it’s that…

It’s very rare for people to write about stuff they’re actually doing themselves!

Most of the time…

… for most people, or marketers, or business owners…

… they’re constantly talking about stuff that they ain’t using or doing themselves. Constantly promoting stuff that they wouldn’t even touch with a ten-foot bamboo stick.

Everyone’s trying to sell you shovels.

It’s very rare to see people selling you actual gold.

Or goldmines.

So saith the great master.

But after going through hundreds of courses, thousands of books, and being subscribed to probably thousands of email lists (great way to see what everyone’s talking about), all I can say is:

“Ain’t that the truth!”

But:

Probably the biggest reason why…

… I’d rather be wearing down and dirty denim trousers, and digging in the dirt for real gold than…

… just selling shovels…

… like a basketball coach who’s never won a championship in his life, so resigns himself to just coaching on the sidelines…

… is because…

… it’s just more romantic!

And a man’s gotta have some romance in his life.

I’d much rather be running up and down the court.

Sweating out drops of blood and tears.

And leveling up my shots with hours upon hours of practice everyday. To the point that… I win me and my team some gold. Rather than just dishing out shovels. And letting other people bask in the gold and glory. While I sit in a cold corner of the locker room counting them dollar bills.

What fun is that?

Well, if you like selling shovels…

… and just sitting on the sidelines and…

… watching as everyone else comes up with gold and glory, while you sit around in a dark gloomy corner counting the bills…

… more power to you.

And perhaps my latest work might help you sell a couple more of them tools.

But:

It’ll work best for people who actually use the tools they sell. And promote. And market. Because nothing beats personal experience when it comes to marketing. Or copywriting. Or selling stuff. Or living a romantic life.

To the point that…

… the world’s greatest living copywriter, Gary Bencivenga…

… when he was writing copy for a security company, used to join the security guards on their rounds, walking through the nastiest, dirtiest, most dangerous streets of New York, all so he could experience what people on the ground floor really saw and did, day after day.

And it’s also why…

… when Toyota was just beginning to expand into the US…

… sent one of their executives and one of their cars over first…

… just so he could drive the car through each and every state of the USA, and see exactly how well they’d perform on rugged terrain in a vast new land that they’d never been to before.

Compare that to:

Modern Chinese phone companies.

Whose executives are all using iPhones, iPads, and Macbook pros because they know how much their own products… umm… ‘suck’ (for lack of a better word) in comparison. It’s all shovel sellers who haven’t dug up a gold nugget in their lives.

At any rate:

If you wanna join me in a man’s romance…

… with one of the biggest copywriting and content creation breakthroughs that I’ve made so far…

… based on the latest, cutting-edge neuroscience used by Fortune 100 companies like Nike, Microsoft, and more… to create content and copy that grabs your brain by the horns, and steers it into releasing ‘crave-inducing’ dopamine…

… then here’s the dusty, rugged path you must trod:
