How to remember more the older you get

Several years back…

During a Dan Kennedy Marketing Conference…

The world’s greatest email copywriter, Matt Furey, was invited on stage. To give a talk. A talk so jaw-dropping, so mind-bending, that even several years later, it was one of the greatest talks I have ever heard.

Now, I’m not going to ‘copy-paste’ his entire talk in this email.

But:

One of the biggest highlights of this wisdom-spewing session was…

… when he discussed the very sensitive topic of…

… how he had started losing his memory!

To the point that he was having a very hard time remembering things he used to recall effortlessly decades ago.

What happened?

Was he getting older?

Was he an unfortunate victim succumbing to dementia?

NO!

Instead, as he recalled, it turns out that he was the unfortunate victim of something called…

… ‘techno brain’!

In other words:

His memory problems actually only started after he began using devices like the smartphone. And tablet. That were so ‘brain-dead’ easy to use that… all you had to do was tap, or swipe, to do everything and anything… from writing, to reading, to surfing, to shopping.

And it was so ‘brain-dead’ easy to use that…

… his brain was actually going dead!

Shortly after which:

He decided to stop using and relying on these ‘cursed’ devices for all his work, and started going back to good ol’ pen and paper.

Writing everything by ink.

And hand.

After which, his memory started miraculously coming back!

But, it didn’t just come back…

… it even got way better than ever before!

Why did this happen?

Because… he didn’t just start writing by hand again. But he even went a step further. And started writing in cursive. And… even writing, and learning to write, with… his left hand. In a reverse, backward, mirrored-alphabet style like the greatest artist in history, Leonardo da Vinci used to do. All of which made the wiring of his brain cells and memory grow ever stronger.

But:

The reason for the phenomena?

Of ‘brain-dead’ easy devices making you ‘brain-dead’ dumb?

Because of a neuroscientific principle that some scientists call the ‘hands building the brain’. Meaning that: the more you use your hands, and fingers, and feet, and toes…

… and the more precisely you use them…

… the more neurons you trigger, activate, and train inside your skull…

… and…

… the stronger and more ‘muscular’ you make them!

Finger-tapping on a screen uses much less fine motor control than writing.

Typing on a keyboard is better.

And uses more detailed motor control than screen tapping. Or swiping. Granted you’re touch typing and not just using two-finger pecking.

But:

It’s still much less than ‘sweat and tears’ handwriting.

And as a result of this insane obsession with easy and comfortably convenient tech?

The less fine motor control you regularly use…

… the less of your mental muscles you use.

To the point that…

.. your memory, mind, attention span, and critical thinking skills eventually…

… go ‘brain dead’!

Which is also why I often write out things by hand.

With pen and paper.

And type them out later.

Which is exactly what I’m doing with this email too!

But short-story long:

Your brain doesn’t just control your hands. But, your hands also control your brain. And the more finely and precisely you use those lovely, but rugged and callused hands, fingers, thumbs, and toes… the more finely you train and strengthen your brain.

Anyways…

If you’d like to discover my new brain-based system for creating content and copy that directly taps into this ‘fine motor control’ network in the brain…

So that almost everyone who consumes your stuff not only remembers more of it…

… but also craves consuming more, and taking action on it more…

P.S. As for the epidemic of people outsourcing all their thinking, writing, talking, and creating to AI? To the point that the gears in their brains are getting so rusty from lack of use, they’re not even turnin’ anymore?

Matt Furey suspects that in a couple years…

… they’ll be so ‘zombified’ that…

… maybe only a handful of people like him who never ever ‘talk’ to AI, or let AI talk to him, or do all the talking for him, will still have brains enough to actually be able to even think.

Which is great, when you think ’bout it.

Less competition always makes life and business easier.

And you know what?

I totally agree with him…

Not gonna be outsourcing my thinking and talking to AI any time soon…
