Why using AI to write your sales copy is like getting a pig to paint your portrait

I was on YouTube a couple months ago…

Watching a top copywriter I have a lot of respect for, showing how he uses AI to write his emails.

Because, even if I might seem like I’m anti-AI, I’m not.

I’m just a realist…

… about what works. And what doesn’t. And I watch more AI training videos than almost anyone else I know. But sometimes it pisses me off, because I was watching this copywriter use his “direct-response-trained-AI” model to write an email. And he kept showing how he prompts the AI to make the email good enough to actually convert.

And he kept prompting.

And prompting.

And prompting.

Until finally, when he was done, I left a comment asking:

“In the time it took you to prompt all that, couldn’t you have just written the whole email yourself?”

And I’m not sure if I left him speechless.

I like to imagine I did.

But he never replied to me, even though he did reply to everyone else.

Anyways:

Some top copywriters are nuts over AI.

Others think it’s the second-coming of Hitler.

Me? I don’t care either way.

But in my opinion, the real reason why there’s almost no way to write really good copy with AI is… because… good copy starts with the offer! Not with the writing! And most AI doesn’t even know what’s really inside your entire offer. It doesn’t even know what makes a good offer tick. But the late, great, legendary copywriter Gary Halbert drove this home again and again when he said that your sales copy is not even 10% as important as your offer.

Why?

Because WHAT you say is infinitely more important than HOW you say it.

And what you say is limited by…

… what’s in your offer!

It doesn’t matter how you twist it.

You can’t (legally) tell people there’s something in your offer that isn’t there. You have to make sure it’s there first before you can talk about it. Just like how you can’t tell someone they won the lottery if it didn’t happen (unless you want a spanking).

And there’s stuff you can say that will get their greed glands going.

And stuff you can say that will totally ‘stink’ them away.

But it’s only when I started to REALLY understand what makes people buy an offer and what doesn’t, that’s when a lot of copywriting principles that I read many years ago started clicking for me.

And:

It’s been clicking even more, recently…

Ever since I started using the Instant Offer Optimizer app I created to regularly scan new offers.

And see why people aren’t going to buy.

And all the things you can say to MAKE them buy…

… but you can only say those things IF…

… you have stuff inside the offer that lets you say it!

And the easiest way to add that ‘missing stuff’ might be to just add it as a bonus. No sweat, no stress. Anyways, it’s just another piece of the puzzle that my new Billion Dollar Bonus Formula, and the IOO app, helps fix in your sales funnel.

If you haven’t gotten yourself a seat yet, the fast-action bonuses are limited to 20 spots. And me helping you look at the ‘copywriting’ aspect of your offer is part of what comes with it.

If that sounds like a good deal, I talk about why I’m being so generous with this right here:
